Since then, MBGKRMA, Karate, Kickboxing, MMA & American Self Defense Centers continues to provide the positive environment for a family friendly, personal, and professional attention to its members; helping them to become confidently more aware, achieve goals, stay safe, be fit, active, and healthy for over twenty nine years. We are here to help you reach all of your fitness and self-defense goals while producing champions in the kickboxing ring and MMA cage.

Grand Master Brian Gates has promoted some of the most prestigious events in martial arts, karate, and kickboxing over the past decades, The Keystone Internationals and Keystone State Championships Internationally recognized film stars, martial arts legends, WORLD CHAMPIONS of the boxing/ kickboxing ring and UFC cage as special guests. Grand Master Brian Gates is also a professional stuntman performing at live venues such as Charlotte Motor Speedway NASCAR pre-race entertainment and being featured on several television shows, most recently May 24th Brian performed a dynamic car jump/crash at CMS and was filmed for The History Channels new series American Daredevils #108 and aired Tuesday, November 12, 2013 and continued thru 2016 in the USA and UK on various programs.

Southern Regional Director Master William Hall

bill hallBill Hall started training in the fighting arts at age 6 when started training with his father and uncle. His father Bill Sr. and his uncle Chet trained in Boston under Charlie Welsh, a Master Boxing Coach who trained “Barbados” Joe Walcott. This training started in 1974 and continued throughout Bill’s entire life. This set the solid foundation for all future training, especially during Bill’s professional fight career. Boxing goes back several generations throughout Bill’s family.
At age 8 Bill started training in Shaolin Kenpo and earned his first Black Belt under Masters David Kang and Tom Valentine in 1987. He holds a 3rd degree black belt in Shaolin Kenpo. The concepts of Kenpo still influence Bill’s karate and fight training. Many of the Katas in Shaolin Kenpo were taken from Shotokan. This led Bill to start studying Shotokan Karate in the late 1980’s and has continued to this day. Bill holds a 5th Degree Black Belt under Former World Kickboxing Champion Kevin “Hurricane” Hudson.
Bill trained out of the Bemjo Kickboxing Gym in Greenville NC under Randy Ballard, Goju-Shorin Master Bill McDonald and John Ormsby. Bill stared Professional Kickboxing in 1989 and achieved a world ranking as high as #3 and fought for a world title in 1991. Bill Hall’s kickboxing career ended after 14 years, when in 2003, he was forced to retire due to injuries he received training for a United States Cruiserweight Title. His stable mates include such incredible fighters as World Champions Kevin “Hurricane” Hudson, Ronnie Copeland, “Sunshine” Dale Frye as well as many other great champions.
Bill’s law enforcement career started in 1995 and spanned 21 years and he is a retired Federal Law Enforcement Agent. Bill spent time on the street as a cop, worked in counter narcotics on a Special Response Team in the Border Patrol and from 2001 to 2016 Bill worked in international Counter Terrorism. He worked countless missions all over the world and has spent time in war zones protecting members of the Counterterrorism community.

He has trained Law Enforcement and Counter Terrorism operators since 1997 and continues to do so today.

Western Regional Director Master Joni Sharrah

joniShihan Joni Wilson Sharrah is the founder and head instructor of USA Karate.

She holds the rank of 7th Degree Black Belt in Shito-ryu Karate and in Danny Lane’s World Martial Arts Federation.

 In addition, Mrs. Sharrah is a certified National Official and certified Technical Coach by the AAU Karate National Program.

She is also certified by the American Council on Exercise in both Group Exercise and for Personal Training.

In 2006, Shihan Joni Sharrah earned an International Budo Martial Arts License an internationally recognized Martial Arts Instructor’s License.

Joni Sharrah is a former 3 -time AAU National Champion, 6 – time International medalist including 3 World Championship Gold Medals.

She was inducted into the Eastern International Black Belt Hall of Fame in 2000. In January of 2011, Joni Sharrah Shihan was awarded the Silver Service Award in the Action Martial Arts Hall of Honors. She is committed to personal excellence and sharing the wisdom gained since training in karate-do beginning in 1982.

Chris has over 16 years of experience in the fitness industry, including 6 years as a Strength & Conditioning Coach and Personal Trainer, specializing in athlete Sports Performance.

Chris is a 2nd Degree Black Belt in the Chuck Norris UFAF System and is also a 4th Degree Black Belt in the World Martial Arts Federation. He started martial arts early as a child and trained in his father's studio at age 4 years old. He got his Black Belt at age 9 from his father Danny Lane and certified by Chuck Norris.

Master Guro Michael Schwarz and President of the WSEF has joined in the WMAF and brings to us his extensive skills in the art of Escrima and more.  He is a Navy Veteran and martial arts veteran instructor of 33 years. He has training taught by GM Changhee Yoon in Moo Du Kwan TKD/Hapkido. He currently holds a 3rd degree black belt in American TKD in the Midwest Martial Arts Association under GM Osborne. In 1985 he began to study the Filipino Martial Arts. He became an instructor in the FMA in the system of Cabales Serrada Escrima in 1995. I currently hold the rank of Panginoon Guro or Master Guro in the system of D/C Serrada System of Escrima & represents the World Serrada Escrima Federation in the Midwest under the auspices of GM Anthony Davis or GM *D*. He has authored 4 modules of curriculum for the WSEF & am currently working on module 5. He currently teachs a combination of the Serrada System of Escrima in conjunction with TKD/Hapkido & an interested in expanding his affiliations with the WMAF. Master Farren started training with Grand Master Lane at age 12. Master Farren has trained in martial arts with for over 21 years and has been teaching and running his own WMAF Center  inside the Chesapeake Community Center since 2002. Master Farren received his 4th degree master level from Grand Master Lane in Aug of 2011. Master Farren still continues to train and fully believes there is always something new to learn the question is how far will you go to learn it? He is the Master Instructor of the Kodokwan Judo Jujitsu club of Zambia is one of the oldest dojo's in Africa, founded in 1928 in Cape Town , South Africa . He started Judo and Jujitsu 25 years ago first under his late father John David Kruger 6th dan in Jujitsu who was his Sensei . His father started Judo and Jujitsu in 1954 at the Kodokwan in Northern Rhodesia now Zambia . His father was also in the Royal Rhodesian Regiment and special Air Service SAS . His father was the fourth generation instructor to the Kodokwan Judo Jujitsu club of Zambia.
